Swamp Sun Orchid - Thelymitra cucullata
A well represented orchid but not particularly widespread, being restricted to localised colonies in seepage zones and around ephemeral swamps. It flowers after bushfire, but will also bloom in unburnt areas providing it is not overgrown by other vegetation.
It grows to around 400 mm (1' 4") in height and flowers freely on sunny days, so easy to recognise by its unique spotted pattern and coloration. The Swamp Sun Orchid usually flowers in October and November.
