Caladenia reptans subsp. reptans - Little Pink Fairies

Often forming small clumps on and around granite outcrops, although rarely in substantial quantities. Very similar to Pink Fairies, Caladenia latifolia, but much smaller (rarely exceeding 150 mm or 6" in height) as compared to the larger Pink Fingers that are always much taller. The leaf that is purple underneath, is also much smaller, usually being less than 75 mm or 3" in length, as compared to the Pink Finger's leaf of 100-250 mm (4"-10").

Flowers particularly well after bushfires, but will also do so without, providing they are not smothered by taller vegetation. These attractive small orchids can flower in July, but in this region August and September is more the norm.
